UCCRN to host a session on ARC3-2 at WUF7 in Medellín, Colombia

UCCRN will hold a Side Event entitled Towards The Second Assessment Report (ARC3-2) Of The Urban Climate Change Research Network during the World Urban Forum (WUF7) in Medellín April 5-11, 2014.

The session will take place Thursday, April 10, 9:45am-10:45am in the Urban Library Room.

The Co-Directors of UCCRN ARC3-2 will introduce the report and will describe the results of the ARC3-2 Initiating Workshop, held in NYC in Sept. 2013 and attended by over 100 developed and developing country urban climate change scholars and practitioners. They will discuss the main content, analytical breadth, and the anticipated challenges in building of the main sections of ARC3-2, including interdisciplinary methods and tools to analyze cross-cutting processes driving climate change and sustainable development; climate science and disaster risk management; urban infrastructure; urban ecosystems; and governance, policy and finance.

The workshop will include:

1. Introduction by the co-editors to ARC3-2, its new topics and novel perspectives, and on the results of ARC3-2 initiating workshop, held in New York City in September 2013 and attended by over 100 developed and developing country urban climate change scholars and practitioners, as well as the progress achieved in the preparation of the report.

2. Presentation of main content, analytical breadth, and the anticipated challenges in building of the main sections of ARC3-2, including interdisciplinary methods and tools to analyze cross-cutting processes driving climate change and sustainable development; climate science and disaster risk management; urban infrastructure;urban ecosystems; and governance, policy and finance.

3. Regional outlooks and participation in ARC3-2, including summary outline and comments from ARC3-2 regional contributors and key regional priorities addressed in ARC3-2, with concrete examples of relevant cases.

4. Innovations for analyzing, reporting and communicating scientific progress in this field, including the ARC3-2 case study docking station, to improve access to information.
