UCCRN Co-Director, Bill Solecki, and our UCCRN members Klaus Jacob and Vivien Gornitz were quoted recently in a New York Magazine article written by Andrew Rice about the future of New York City and the effects of sea level rise due to climate change.

The article is the result of a four-year collaboration among Rice, Solecki, and others to visualize New York City┬áin 2050 where today’s 100-year storms are five times as likely to happen, baseline water levels along the coast are higher, and storm surges are much more likely to inundate areas of the city that were previously protected from flooding. The map featured in the article is also the result of UCCRN collaboration with the New York City Panel on Climate Change.
